Description
This piece is very rare. Labeled on the bottom minton 1864. Has two places of damage. I believe the hunter was holding a horn that is missing and the top of his hunting knife is missing. Hard to see the damage however it is there. Wonderful piece still. Measures 9 inches tall and the base is 8 and 3/4 by 4 and 3/4. This item was sold on Bonhams.Com. It's sold for ,794 and had three areas of damaged. This model derives from a long complex piece, the Victorian wine cooler, designed by Pierre-Emile Jeanest, 1813 to 1837 now in the Victoria and Albert Museum and dated 1851 the male and female child Hunters positioned at the foot of the urn we're subsequently produced separately see "The dictionary of Minton" page 244 and 276.
