Palissy Majolica Platter LARGE 19th C Victorian

This is a fabulous Palissy Majolica Platter 19th Century With a dandy gravel ground, and exquisitely detailed creatures throughout in a classic Bernard Palissy inspired design surrounding a central coiled snake with lizards, a newt, snails, and delicate foliage. There is damage to a number of the critters, most notable the second snake has lost his head. At some point in time an actual snail shell was attached to the platter and I have not tried to remove it. There are repairs evident on the revers, but overall the piece presents quite nicely.
