We are delighted to offer for sale a Exceptional!!and Rare Vintage Daum Lion ou Chien or Chinese Lion. With its beautiful Pate de Verre Translucent Amber Coloring it is a spectacular piece. This Chinese Lion is just gorgeous. The amber colors are so vivid. Chinese lions like this appeared in many forms in early Chinese Dynasties. The explanation is that travelers reported seeing lions, and described them to artists, but didn’t have the benefit of photography. Since the artists had never seen a lion and only heard descriptions, they based their lion designs on the four legged animal they knew best which was the dog. When you look at these photos you can see that resemblance. Even to this day, this form of lion decorates many Chinese inspired art pieces including this Lion. Signed Limited Edition. This is number 33 in an edition of ONLY 388. It is Daum product #03463 MSRP 60 . These are very hard to find and rare now. How rare? Go and try to find another one. It is a substantial piece measuring 10 inches in length. It weighs a whopping 4 pounds 12 ounces. The quality level achieved with Daum's Pate de Verre process is at the very top level of the French glass industry. These are luxury items prized by collectors.
