DESCRIPTION:
This real-photo postcard shows construction of the school in Bainbridge, Indiana. Standing in the foreground, near several stacks of bricks, are multiple workers. Three workers in the middle have brick hods. (See the second photo.) At the top of the school are four additional bricklayers. (See the third photo.) The card was mailed from Bainbridge, Indiana. The message doesn't mention the school, but there is a reference to seeing a tornado, which is unusual since the card was mailed in late November. The line reads, "Had quite a rain to-day also saw a cyclone about two miles away looked just like the picture of one I have seen."
Located on the northwest corner of Seminary and Washington streets, the school was built in 1908, remodeled in 1916, and enlarged in 1922 to include a gymnasium. It closed in 1969, when Bainbridge, Roachdale, and Russellville students integrated into the North Putnam Community Schools system. (Source: The Indiana Album) The school was apparently razed, as an aerial view using Google Maps shows other buildings in that location.

CONDITION:
Crisp edges. Light wear to the corners. Slight crease to the lower-right corner. Half-inch diagonal crease near the center of the view. The card is slightly smaller than a traditional postcard (it measures 3 3/16 by 5 3/8 inches) but appears to have been made in the smaller size rather than having been cut down afterward. (All the corners and edges are straight.)
