Description
Thank you for considering our colorful tin glazed antique Ginori Faience round pottery bowl. The bowl is supported on a pedestal base with central column surrounded by three separate sphinxes with women's heads. It is further adorned on the exterior with fruit, satyr faces, and other trim in molded bas relief, while theinterior is cobalt blue with a colorful depiction of a cherub and a dolphin-fish on the bottom
.
Height from the tabletop to the bowl's rim is about 5-1/4 inches; width across the rim is almost nine inches.
Assuming this bowl was made for export, the mark dates it to having been made sometime between 1870 and 1890.
Rated shipping weight is six pounds.
Considering this bowl is well over a hundred years old and is made of very soft ceramic material, it is in very good age appropriate condition; which is to say there is glaze wear and typical spots where glaze and even bits of pottery have been flaked off, including on the exterior of the rim and the front part of one sphinx wing (look closely at photos). But there are no cracks or spots where larger chunks of pottery have been physically broken off, and no evidence of prior repairs.
Note, there may be white spots from light reflection during photography on various photos that do not appear on the actual object
