unique & beautiful Majolica Palissy 3 dimensional Crab plate
made by Alvaro Jose from Caldas da Rainha , Portugal in the 1940's
deeply molded bas relief ocean seabed w/ sand , mussels, seaweed and the Crab
Crab is mulberry w/ surrounding colors of browns, greens & blues
impressed on base "1164"
measures about 13" in length &
about 3" high to top of Crab
wire attached for wall hanging

Very good aged condition. Crazing & slightest age line near one opening in back for hanging  probably at time of manufacture.
