Description

Dates about c1880s.
Unmarked but of an english origin.
A majolica gurgle jug, pitcher in the form of a fish with
seaweed decoration around the circumference of the base.
Decorative curled fish handle.
Majolica pink internally.
Approximately 10 inches tall.
Overall max diameter inc handle of about 5.5 inches.
Base diameter of about 3.75 inches.
The base is unmarked but has adhesive residue.  There is a note that was on the bottom of the base indicating it was a gift to relatives.  I have left it inside the pitcher.
There is crackling of the glaze throughout, but no chips, breaks or hairlines.  There is an area of wear on the upper lip, as shown in he last photo. There is a firing flaw inside the pitcher where the clay split (second to last photo), but this does not go through to the outside.
